Hello everyone!
Below is going to be a handy guide on how to make an acceptable character bio. The basic idea is that if you follow these guide line your character should be accepted! I'll try to make this short and general so you get the idea but don't get to bored reading it and then your brain turns to mush... So here we go!
YOUR GUIDE TO A SUCSESSFUL CHARACTER BIO
First of all your bio should be mostly free from grammar mistakes and spelling errors! And it should be easy to read, because if the staff can't read the bio how are we meant to be able to accept it?
Next, the bio has to be realistic. Believable. The characters have to fit in with the plot of the story. for example, a novice wouldn't be able to have warded of 2 Stigoi when he has just started school, really think about what you are writing and think to yourself, "would this character really exist in the book?" If no, change it around so it fits in nicely!
The character has to fit into the society and environment around it. For example it you lived in the academy you can’t be walking around all night talking and snaking on food, stuff like that you have to fit it around the books.
When writing the Bio it has to be in full sentences, not just a list o traits or characteristics! For example, “Bill has brown hair. Bill is tall. Bill eyes are blue. Bill like soccer”, this won’t be accepted.
You must write the recommended amount of paragraphs or more! If not there is a slim chance that it’ll be accepted!
FORMAT THAT YOU WILL BE FOLLOWING
Name: something reasonable, names that fit in, not ones like ‘Flash’ or ‘lightning’ names that you hear in the world around you.
Age: the age has to match the rest of your bio. For example if he was still in school he has to be in their teens not like 70. Again it has to be believable!
Gender: this is your choice!
Appearance: when you write the appearance please think about how people look today! Even if they are a Strigoi they won’t have green hair or horns poking out their heads!
When writing this section of the bio please remembers to add all the traits of your character and be descriptive! Tell us how tall they are and how they may feel about. What colour hair they have, but don’t just say ‘he has brown hair.’ Expand! Say that ‘he has chocolate brown hair that sits untidy on the top of his head’ or better add some description tell us if there are other colour in there if it glows in the sunlight, if he like it neat of messy, is it long and how does it sit?
Also in this section it is a good idea to mention any flaws your character might have!
Remember when you are writing this section think of the books and keep in mind that this site is about them! Mary Sue is not an acceptable character.
Personality:Your character is a person so they do have feeling and what not.... so make it believable! Of course you know people who are supper nice and don’t seem to have any flaws but really everyone does no matter what it seems on the outside! I mean life would get pretty boring with no complications....
Describe the tyraits as best as you can leeping in mind that the characters are based on the vampire academy series. If it helps try and place your character their in your mind and write how they would feel and go from there :)
History:This will be the hardest part of the whole bio, as you start to use your imagination and the bio might start to turn into a freak show!
Keep in mind when writing this section that it all has to believable for the setting and whats happening, like if you character is a Strigoi, maybe you could tell us how he became one and if it wad painful, what his life was like before and what his life is like after the turning, all this type of information is best suited for the history.
If your character is moroi do they have any guardians? How was life growing up? Really any major events in life or anything like that!
