Another long day, or rather night to those outside of the world he lived in. While the hour grew late and the sun would be slowly make its rise from the east in a few hours it was not quite curfew yet for the students, both Moroi and Dhampir, at the school known as St. Vladmir’s. The sky was relatively clear which gave any onlooker a nice view of the tiny starts that seemed to twinkle very now and then. A slight rustling noise from the surrounding trees was evident as a light breeze made its way through the path that led toward the Moroi dorms. The night proved to be eerily quiet as most students had already made their way to the dorms. That façade was quickly shattered due to a sudden yawn as a lone figure made his way quietly along the path.
A small book could just be seen tucked securely under his left arm. "Liege" was the only portion of the title visible to anyone who got close enough to look. His messy bronze colored hair seemed to be more akin to black in dimly lit area. His eyes were quite keen; the same thing could be said about any Moroi. Their senses were very sharp when compared to someone like a human. His usual wide hazel eyes were somewhat narrowed as his right hand rubbed gently across them. He had mistakenly dozed off while reading his book. He typically did this after his last class and usually made it back to the dorm with no issues. As he attempted to chase away the last signs of sleep he began to notice just how quiet it really was. It was then that he really took a good look around and realized just how late it truly was.
In the distance he could just make out a dim orange blur through the tree-line. Dawn was drew ever closer as his heart started to beat harder within his chest. “I am going to be in so much trouble,” he muttered as she chastised himself. Unless he somehow managed to sneak up into his room, which happened to be on the third floor, he had no idea what sort of punishment he would face. His eyes quickly took in the dorms not too far away as he tried to move quietly along the way. Each step he took echoed lightly. His skill at moving undetected…..was subpar at best. However, at that moment he didn’t seem to notice. For all he knew he could very well pull this off and no one would be the wiser. The fact that he had on tan khaki pants and a light blue button up shirt did not help matters at all.

-- Chime Leaf --
I never found myself up this late. I preferred to sleep tucked in my bed at this time of the day. The curtains drawn shut, like any Dhampir. But unlike Moroi I did prefer the light of the day over the cool nights that I had become accustomed to. My feet slide smoothly over the ground, silent like so many times I had practiced it. After hours tossing and turning restlessly in bed I had opted for a walk. I knew that it was quiet silly of me to be walking around in broad daylight, but the smell of fresh air had lured me out into the suns clutches and I felt myself relax more than lately. My muscles seemed to slacken and even my lips softened from the strained weary look I had taken on ever since coming back to school.
My bare feet stung against the hot ground, and I could feel them burn, but it wasn’t unwelcomed the cold nights often left me tired and shivering, I was glad to be out in the sun. Its heat beating down on me. My eyes flicker around the buildings of the ancient school. I quickly take in all the rooms and locked up doors. I passed the dors where I know my fellow novices slept, but I felt no urge to go with them. I in fact felt the desire to escape. I wanted freedom a way out from the pressure of school, and becoming a Guardian. My friends didn’t help, I was smart, well I was supposed to be, they relied on me for their school work, to help them. It wore me out. I can still hear Kat’s voice-my mentor- echo in my head. Don’t tell them how to do everything they must learn from their mistakes. But I loved the way my friends would smile with joy at a test mark, or the way their eyes would light up when they knew that they were doing their work right.
I couldn’t take that away from them.
But I was slowly failing. Just a little bit her and there, a low mark or just a pass. But I knew the signs and my dedication to helping them was dragging me behind. I was frustrated with myself, I wanted to help them, but I was failing. I had to help myself first. I glare at the clump of weeds in front of my disappointed in my inability to say no, to tell them I couldn’t help them. But as always their pleading eyes made me cave. My walk brings me to the beginning of the Moroi dorms. I stop. I freeze as the sound of feet against the ground register in my ears. I instantly dismissed the thought of the person being a Moroi, no Moroi could walk like that, walk so silently, and only a guardian could do that. Suddenly I’m panicking I didn’t want to be caught.
I spin around looking for the source of the sound, seeing no one I dive into the bushes that line the bottom of the building, a three story building towered behind me as I positioned myself to face the front. My eyes scan the campus as I search for the person. A boy comes into view. I stare puzzled for a moment at his thin frail figure. No guardian looked like that. He was tall, and that was how I knew he was Moroi. I was further more confused by the way he walked so silently. It was unusual to see a Moroi with suck skill in that way. Even though Moroi were learning to fight these days, none of them were being taught those kinds of skills. That was still saved for the Dhampir’s.
"I am going to be in so much trouble."
He mutters. My eyes widen in surprise has he stops in front of me his eyes moving up to the window high up. A smile slowly creeps onto my face as I realise that he was going to climb up. I didn’t think he would be strong enough, and I doubted he would get away with it in this light. But my curiosity was piped. I wanted to know what he was doing out here in this heat. I hesitate. I didn’t really want to reveal myself to this guy. I had to be honest actually not seen him before. I didn’t know who he was.

For a few moments Nathaniel just stood there as he stared up at the window that seemed, only moments before within reach, to be entirely too far away. He grumbled at his misfortune. He reached out as if he had every intention to climb. At first he actually tried. However, he never made it past the first window sill. “Yeah this isn’t going to work,” he was forced to admit as he lowered his body back towards the ground. He glanced about as he was completely oblivious to the person crouched in the bushes.
“What to do....what to do,” he mumbled as he started to pace. Panic was clearly evident in his tone. He knew he could simply enter in through the front, but then he’d have to confess that he was out past curfew. That was not an idea he was very thrilled about. He glanced up and realized he had taken too long to consider his options. The sky was already starting to brighten up as the sun began to rise. While he knew most slept during these hours of sunlight he also knew that not everyone did so. Sooner or later some Guardian would come along as they intended to patrol or whatever it is they do.
With that sudden thought he fled around the corner of the building then took a quick peek out to ensure he wasn’t spotted. Once he felt relatively safe he turned and vanished as he headed towards the back entrance. He knew the door was usually locked. However, he fully intended to try his luck. While he made the mistake of being hopeful he sulked the moment the attempted to push the lever down. “Locked,” he said suddenly. He was just about to give up when he suddenly leaned in closer. The door itself was made of metal. However…..the door frame was wood. Of course it was reinforced but it was still wood.
A slight smirk formed upon his face as he considered a new possibility. Slowly he placed his right hand around where the latch would be secured within the door frame. Then he gave a slight tug on the door and the sound of wood splintering could be heard. He froze for but a moment before attempted move inside. It was times like this he was glad he specialized in Earth. Making a bit of wood rot prematurely wasn’t too difficult. Though it did leave him a little fatigued considering he should have been in bed and sound asleep by now.

You don't have to be cool to rule my world Ain't no particular sign I'm more compatible with I just want your extra time and your kiss You got to not talk dirty, baby, if you wanna impress me You can't be to flirty, mama, I know how to undress me, yeah There was not a lot in this world that surprised Chime. There was little in a dying world that awoke any emotions in her of shock, or worry, fear or cowardice. She was a strong willed, carefree girl, she was a control freak and a girl with a crazy imagination that could run wild and free and lead her to create stories full of magic and lies. There was always lies, but then they were glued to a world that was founded by them. Everything she knew was a lie, and everything everybody knew was a lie.
Sure, people believed them to be true, but it was hardly acceptable seeing as there was no true way if telling if they were truly the truth and note some sad stories that a hermit created in the hopes of gaining fame.
She was a religious girl. She believed in the word of God and all those stories that built the bible. She just simply believed that God had stopped caring for them. She had seen too much suffering and pain to believe that there was such a thing as mercy and a miracle. She was part of a world that was supposed to exist. Vampires? They weren’t real, all the stories said so, all those stupid ignorant mortals believed it. None of them knew the true magic that was in the world, they lived in blind bliss ignorance. Hardly any of them ever got to see what it was truly like and for that sometimes she envied them and at other times she only felt pity.
She shoved herself backwards against the cool ground, it pressed down into the palms of her hands and she almost let a sigh of annoyance escape her lips, before biting it back. She was a guilty girl, she was normally perfect, the sweet little princess, not the girl that snuck out of her dorm and went for daylight walks. But she loved the light; she loved the feel of the sun on her face, the burn of red blistering skin. She loved the heat of the middle of the day and the way sweat would tickle her neck as it ran down it. Most of these things were repulsive, but to a girl that rarely got to see it? It was heaven.
Just the simple experience of the light as it caressed still water, or as the sun slowly sunk to the other side of the sky. Her favourite thing of all was the sunset. When the sky would burst with a million different shades of colours. They would sored forth like greedy fingers, licking the sky in their brilliance, each colour battling the other for top position, to be seen, loved and cherished. She loved seeing the sky turn from azure, perfect blue, to the more subtle shades of purple, red and orange. The night sky was dull, there was no colour and Chime loved colour.
But she also hate being seen.
She pressed herself down into the Earth, watching the tall Moroi boy, because it was obvious that he was Moroi, he was tall, slender and not that powerfully built. He was pale and lanky, like them all, and Chime had been around them for too long to not be able to tell the difference by instinct. She watched and waited, hoping he would leave, but to her annoyance he stopped at the door, muttering something so soft that even her heightened hearing did not catch it.
With a soft click the door opened. “Cheater.” She muttered, a scowl pulling her light eyebrows down over her blue eyes.
I want to be your fantasy, maybe you could be mine You just leave it all up to me, we could have a good time You don't have to be rich to be my girl You don't have to be cool to rule my world Ain't no particular sign I'm more compatible with
